Berlin, Germany, 4 September 2024. The kick-off meeting with all those involved in the planning and implementation of Heat Pump Week took place this Wednesday at the BMWK. In addition to dena, there will be approximately 40 players who gave their commitment in mid-2022 as part of the concerted efforts in the heat pump sector to accelerating the heat pump ramp-up, as well as approximately 30 regional organisers of Heat Pump Week. More than 300 different events are planned in 75 districts in the week from 4 to 10 November. These include presentations, interactive exhibitions, best practice examples on the framework conditions and possibilities for installing heat pumps and exchanges with heating systems experts.
Dr Philipp Nimmermann, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, emphasised at today’s kick-off event: ‘Citizens in their region can obtain reliable and comprehensive information about heat pumps and the heat transition during Heat Pump Week, which is organised by dena and the respective local partners in the heat pump community. It is important to us that people in their local community receive directly helpful, practical information and advice, including on the prevailing local conditions. After all, the energy transition is complex; it needs broad participation and trust in order to be successful!’
According to Corinna Enders, Chairperson of dena’s Management Board, a key element of the heating transition is the conversion of the heat supply to renewable energies with heat pumps. This in turn is a prerequisite for Germany to become climate-neutral by 2045. ‘Heat pump technology is very efficient and one of the options for a climate-neutral heat supply. A whole range of experts will be on hand to provide information during Heat Pump Week, both on site and virtually, because we want to reach as many people as possible.’
dena was commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action with the overall coordination. Heat Pump Week is being organised by an alliance of approximately 30 local and regional agencies and institutions. The information services are tailored to the respective region, for example, with regard to approvals and funding conditions. In addition, new networks dealing with the topic of heat supply and heat pumps can be established at the ‘marketplace of regional energy experts’ as part of Heat Pump Week.
