Viewed over their entire life cycle, buildings are the largest emitter of greenhouse gases in Germany. We deal with strategies, instruments and concrete measures to successfully make the building sector climate-neutral. Our aim is to support an effective transformation of the building sector in line with the needs of users.
The teams are working on numerous projects that focus on how to build and refurbish with the aim of achieving a climate-neutral building sector. They support experts with a wide range of offers to expand and share expertise on climate-neutral building and refurbishment. They work to simplify and standardise construction and renovation processes in dialogue with stakeholders. To this end, we regularly issue publications and organise events.
The department has around 140 employees and is divided into three work areas.
Networks and Specialised Public Services work area: communication of technical topics and discussion of political instruments and measures to support experts who implement the energy transition in the building sector.
Innovation and Transformation work area: development and testing of ways to minimise greenhouse gas emissions in the building sector. Key aspects include technical and architectural issues as well as the perspectives and interests of the stakeholders.
Planning and Consulting work area: consulting and support from experts on the road to a climate-neutral building stock.
