Support for international activities in the building sector
dena supports the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Action in its international activities in the building sector. National perspectives are actively incorporated and the positions of international stakeholders are taken on board at a global level
Goal: to strengthen climate protection in the building sector at a global level
Topics: Energy efficiency, Buildings, International partnership, Networking globally
Runtime: since 2023
Our mission
The challenges on the path to a climate-neutral and resilient building and construction sector are considerable when it comes to climate change. This sector accounted for 34 per cent of final energy consumption and 37 per cent of energy and process-related carbon emissions worldwide in 2022. There is therefore an urgent need for action to rapidly decarbonise the building sector at a global level.
Technical solutions and implementation proposals have been under discussion for a long time. Political and social issues are now increasingly coming into focus, as the building and construction sector has a direct influence on the regional level, especially the local economy and market development.
Our approach
Against this background, the exchange of experience at international level and the joint search for solutions are an important approach. As part of the project, dena is therefore involved in various international committees on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. It implements the technical support for the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC), for the Buildings Breakthrough, and for the building working group in the Energy Efficiency Hubs. It also supports the specialist unit in other matters relating to international cooperation in the building sector.
