The German government aims to ensure that Germany’s electricity supply is virtually climate-neutral by 2035. To achieve this, the demand for electricity must be met entirely from renewable energies. Photovoltaics plays a key role here, with plans to install 215 gigawatts of photovoltaic capacity by 2030. Half of these systems will be rooftop plants and half will be ground-mounted systems.
In order to achieve this expansion target, the expansion rate for solar power, which is already high, will need to be further increased. The Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy has developed corresponding fields of action and measures in its PV Strategy. dena is assisting the ministry in implementing its PV Strategy. In this manner, dena ensures that the expansion of photovoltaics is further accelerated and the energy transition is advanced.
dena provides information to the general public on regulatory changes in an effort to speed up the expansion of photovoltaics in Germany and successfully implement the German government’s PV Strategy. It ensures that the key players involved in the expansion of photovoltaics are aware of the contents of the government’s Solar Packages.
Through a close and regular dialogue with the industry, dena identifies common hurdles to an accelerated expansion of photovoltaics. To this end, dena organises regular meetings with representatives of the photovoltaic sector and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
Many issues relating to solar power require more detailed analyses and research. dena helps create a better understanding of complex issues and derive effective measures through technical analyses and opinion papers.
Planned milestones are the following:
Publications on significant innovations in the field of photovoltaics
Regular specialist workshops with the photovoltaic industry
Analyses of technical issues relating to photovoltaics
