Our mission

The German Government’s international energy partnerships have become key instruments of energy and climate policy. They serve

  • to deepen cooperation on energy issues,
  • support the implementation of global climate targets and
  • make an important contribution towards achieving climate neutrality by 2045.

In addition to dena and other implementing organisations, the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) is implementing 17 partnerships with developing and emerging economies on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). In this context, dena is contributing its energy expertise to support the implementation of project activities in eleven partner countries, addressing locally specific challenges associated with the energy transition.

Our approach

Experts from various departments at dena are working on this project to cover the full range of locally relevant issues within the energy partnerships. Specifically, this involves

  • energy infrastructure,
  • electric mobility,
  • smart metering,
  • building energy efficiency,
  • energy efficiency networks,
  • Just Energy Transition/Civil Society,
  • Industrial decarbonisation,
  • Biogas,
  • Energy sharing,
  • Electricity market certificates,
  • Carbon management
  • and start-ups.

The support includes, amongst other things, the commissioning and technical supervision of studies, the provision of expertise in workshops, and the mutual exchange of knowledge and experience with local stakeholders. In addition, flexible services are provided to respond to new needs.
