Berlin, 12 November 2024. During the dena Energy Transition Congress in Berlin, five companies were honoured with the Energy Efficiency Award (EEA). The award is under the patronage of Dr Robert Habeck, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection. The award recognises companies for projects and concepts that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and demonstrate the transformation of industry towards climate neutrality.
Corinna Enders, Chairperson of the Management Board at dena, said: ‘With the Energy Efficiency Award, dena is focussing on companies that are successfully implementing energy efficiency and climate protection in their business activities. I am particularly pleased with the innovative strength that is visible in all projects. These entrepreneurial achievements towards a climate-neutral future are encouraging, as is the willingness shown to cooperate with other companies. The Energy Efficiency Award honours this commitment and inspires others to follow suit.’
Stefan Wenzel, Parliamentary State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and Chair of dena’s Supervisory Board, emphasised: ‘The award winners show that it is worthwhile for companies to realise efficiency potential. The award-winning companies are pioneers and role models in climate protection and resource efficiency. Climate-conscious behaviour plays a decisive role in ensuring that companies remain competitive in the future. For this reason, I would like to encourage other companies to take a look at the successful measures, as they may also be transferable to their own processes.’
The EEA is awarded in four categories that reflect the spectrum of corporate climate protection: From the use of renewable energies and system integration to increasing efficiency, digitalisation and cooperation, through to comprehensive transformation concepts. In addition, a special prize of €5,000 was awarded to one small or medium-sized company out of the 100+ companies that entered. The companies honoured in the categories are:

About the Energy Efficiency Award
The Energy Efficiency Award (EEA) is a showcase of tangible successes for the energy transition and climate protection. The German Energy Agency (dena) has been giving out the award since 2007, and it is sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz, BMWK). Since then, more than 1,500 companies have submitted entries. The examples demonstrate how we can reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and alleviate the threat of price increases.
