Survey on mobility management conducted by the federal agencies

In the Federal Climate Protection Act, the German government has set itself the goal of making the federal administration climate-neutral by 2030. Part of this transformation is the introduction of mobility management. The aim is for the federal authorities to optimise the commutes and business trips of their employees as well as their vehicle fleets in an ecological, economical and socially responsible manner. It is mandatory to conduct an employee survey in all federal authorities according to the government’s ‘Maßnahmenprogramm Nachhaltigkeit – Weiterentwicklung 2021’ (2021 programme of measures for sustainability). The survey records the behaviour and needs of employees, enabling suitable measures to then be taken.

On behalf of the Coordination Centre for Climate Neutral Federal Administration, dena has developed several products to make it easier for federal authorities to plan, initiate and implement mobility management. Among other things, dena has developed a concept here:

• A sample survey for the mobility behaviour of employees, including an importable LimeSurvey template
• A checklist for analysing the site
• Recommendations for data collection
• Process guidelines
• An evaluation tool 

This makes it easier to understand the mobility behaviour of employees and identify possible fields of activity. This provides a basis for customised, sustainable offers to be developed; for example, for business trips and fleet management. Together with introductory workshops, these products help the federal authorities facilitate climate- and environmentally friendly mobility management.
