German-Polish Energy Platform

The platform promotes the energy transition in Germany and Poland, finds solutions to the challenges of the energy transition, develops joint projects to achieve climate neutrality and implements them.

Our mission

Together with the Polish National Energy Conservation Agency (KAPE), dena coordinates the activities of the German-Polish Energy Platform on behalf of the German Foreign Office, thus making an important contribution to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector. The aim is to develop joint solutions to the challenges of climate neutrality through targeted cooperation. To this end, dena and the Polish National Energy Conservation Agency are bundling their expertise and networks to bring together the relevant players from politics, business and civil society. The aim is to facilitate the exchange of experience and promote cross-border projects.

Our approach

The energy platform works together with a broad network of stakeholders from both countries. The German-Polish Energy Transition Forum, which has been held annually since 2023, brings together relevant stakeholders from politics, business and civil society from both countries, enabling an exchange of experiences on the opportunities and challenges involved in implementing the energy transition. Mutual understanding of the respective energy policy measures is also improved. To this end, dena and the Polish National Energy Conservation Agency (KAPE) are working together with the German Embassy in Warsaw, the Polish Embassy in Berlin, the German-Polish Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHKPolen) and other partners. In addition, the platform supports the implementation of specific pioneering cross-border projects.

Our milestones

  • The first German-Polish Energy Transition Forum took place in April 2023 with around 100 participants from politics, business and civil society in attendance.
  • The 2nd German-Polish Energy Transition Forum was successfully held at the German Foreign Office in Berlin in May 2024.
  • In July 2024, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) gave the green light for funding the cross-border UNITED HEAT project in the European city of Görlitz/Zgorzelec.
