Copy short link

The current building report provides a clear summary of the data on the building stock in Germany. This year's edition is dedicated to the following topics in a total of five chapters: building stock in Germany, heat generators, economic efficiency, energy consumption, climate and greenhouse gases. With its continuous monitoring of relevant developments in the building sector, it provides an important data basis for political and economic decision-makers as well as for stakeholders from research institutes, associations and the media.

The building report illustrates various developments in the German building sector. In terms of space heating in residential buildings, for example, the report shows an upward trend in the installation of heat pumps for the first time in 2021, as well as data on gas heating systems, which continue to dominate. There is also growth in the building stock: the number of residential buildings, non-residential buildings and residential units showed an increase, as did the living space per person, as the data from the beginning of 2022 suggests compared to the previous year.
