RED Implementation for Heating and Cooling (REDI4heat)
Providing support for the implementation of the RED provisions in the heating sector

Goal: to identify potential in the national energy strategies of five Member States in order to facilitate the introduction of renewable heating and cooling systems
Topics: Energy efficiency, Renewable energies, Legal framework, International partnership, Municipal governments, Heating transition, Transforming the economy and society
Runtime: since 2022
Our mission
The purpose of the REDI4Heat project is to support the implementation of the RED provisions on heating and cooling and to assist Member States and local authorities in this process. The introduction of renewable heating and cooling systems will be facilitated and other EU countries will be encouraged to also follow this project’s lead.
As part of REDI4Heat, dena is spearheading two central project tasks: the development of a toolbox to support the heating transition and the implementation of a policy tracker. In addition, dena develops strategic approaches and relevant technical information for the implementation of policies in the heating sector in Germany. An important component is the implementation of various European and national workshops and training sessions on successful approaches and practical solutions.
Our approach
Through the REDI4Heat project, the climate and energy strategies of the project countries are analysed, calling attention to gaps in the strategies and potential for faster transformation. These analyses will be used to develop strategic recommendations in order to support the heating transition across Europe.
In addition, best practice examples and expertise will be published on a dedicated knowledge platform and via a toolbox. dena will employ various types of events to encourage stakeholders at all levels to engage in dialogue.
