Startups are crucial for the energy transition and thus for our goal of climate neutrality, as they develop new technologies and innovative solutions. SET Hub offers comprehensive and free support to those interested in founding a company and to startups, ranging from basic knowledge of the energy system to individual consultations and networking with political players, established companies and infrastructure operators. The aim is to promote startups in the complex energy industry and facilitate cooperation with other players. In this manner, SET Hub helps accelerate the energy transition and the decarbonisation of the economy.
The SET Hub project has supported startups on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action since 2020.
Anyone interested can attend the SET Academies and learn basic knowledge on topics relevant to startups.
As part of SET Mentoring, experts from dena and Accenture provide startups with individual consulting on regulatory issues, as well as on matters related to their business model.
The SET Think Tank addresses current trends in the energy market. Competitions to generate new ideas provide innovative solutions for the digitalisation of the energy transition and serve as the basis for the SET pilot projects. The SET pilot projects make it possible to test pilot projects in practice and receive partial, or even complete, funding for the trials.
The SET Network promotes exchange between startups and the energy industry and is supported by an advisory board and events.
Our milestones
2024: fifty-six startups received individual consulting regarding their business models and challenges in SET Mentoring.
2024: the network comprises over 450 startups and stakeholders and is complemented by the advisory board, which is made up of members from the energy industry and the startup ecosystem.
2022: SET Hub is part of the startup strategy adopted by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action in 2022 and in this regard makes an important contribution to promoting the startup environment in Germany.
Regardless of whether automated system control, dynamic electricity rates or grid operation based on real-time data, at the heart of all these applications are intelligent metering systems.
