Criteria for social sustainability of green hydrogen projects
A comparison of existing international hydrogen frameworks

This analysis provides a systematic presentation of the social sustainability criteria and offers an overview of the current state of feasibility based on literature research and existing assessment frameworks for green hydrogen and PtX projects.
Many green hydrogen projects are currently being implemented and this is generating growing interest in how the projects can be realised in a socially sustainable way. There is still room for improvement in the implementation of the social sustainability criteria, for example, in the creation of measurable criteria for these criteria. Most of these measures and criteria have already been developed for safe and good working conditions, local development and the protection of local resources.
The further development of voluntary systems is very important in order to gain a better overview in this regard. These can be expanded in two ways. First, it is important to have specific indicators that can be measured in order to put concepts of social sustainability into practice. Second, the relevant criteria can be expanded in line with specific local requirements.
