Energy balance of buildings according to DIN V 18599

Since 1 January 2023, the calculation of energy requirements for efficiency houses has been switched to the DIN V 18599 standard as part of the Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings (Bundesförderung für effiziente Gebäude, BEG). In 2024, this obligation will also apply to non-cooled residential buildings and therefore all heated buildings as part of the German Buildings Energy Act (Gebäudeenergiegesetz, GEG).

On the occasion of this innovation, the guidelines for energy-related building balancing were comprehensively revised. The second edition offers various new features. There was also a chapter on electricity-generating systems and one on building automation, as well as a detailed description of thermal bridges.
