H2 dezentral (H2 decentralized)
The ‘H2 dezentral’ stakeholder project examined the challenges and opportunities for decentralised hydrogen infrastructures. In this manner, dena brought together a wide range of organisations that are convinced of the high potential of this nascent marke
The challenge
There will be strong demand for hydrogen as an energy source on the path to climate neutrality in 2045. Decentralised hydrogen concepts that produce and use hydrogen from renewable energies in regional clusters across Germany could be an important building block for climate neutrality and security of supply in the future. The challenge here is to develop suitable business models.
Our solution:
Future business models were identified and their contribution to the energy system analysed in the ‘H2 dezentral’ project, together with companies along the entire value chain as well as research and pilot projects dealing with decentralised hydrogen strategies.
The effect:
The project resulted in a study that serves as a knowledge base. It deals with the current state of technology and the contribution to the energy system as well as a description of the applicable constraints and regulatory frameworks for decentralised hydrogen. Technology pathways were developed together with the project partners, in particular for the review and evaluation of possible business models.
