Biogas Partnership
The project is advancing the feed-in of biomethane into the German natural gas grid. dena pools sector-specific expertise on an information platform.

Goal: to unite and support market players along the entire biogas feed-in value chain
Topics: Renewable energies, Funding, Buildings, Overall system, Business models, Legal framework, Industry, Infrastructure, Mobility, Heating transition, Generating and distributing energy
Runtime: since 2007
Our mission
dena has developed the ‘biogaspartner’ project in collaboration with partners from industry. Market players along the entire biogas feed-in value chain come together through the project. They receive support for their market development activities. In this process, dena acts as moderator. It provides a platform for compiling and processing information, which it disseminates both nationally and internationally. The project provides support to partners in the industry for their market development activities in pursuit of their goal to establish biomethane as an integral part of the future energy mix.
Our approach
dena promotes an intensive exchange on current topics through online and in-person meetings as well as working groups with biogas partners. In this manner, it is possible to publish joint statements and background papers as well. The publication entitled ‘Branchenbarometer Biomethan’ (Biomethane Industry Barometer) is one of the key publications that comes out each year.
The project also provides information on current topics relating to biomethane via a newsletter, mailings and LinkedIn.
Updated regularly, the feed-in map provides an overview of biomethane upgrading plants in Germany – both planned and implemented, as well as with and without feed-in into the gas grid.
Our milestones
- The biogaspartner Annual Conference brings together current topics from the biomethane market and enables experts from politics, industry and research to engage in stimulating discussions.
- dena has published its Branchenbarometer Biomethan, which provides the results of data surveys, assessments, opinions and forecasts from industry players on developments, opportunities and challenges in biomethane, every year since 2012.
