The SET100 List 2026: The most innovative start-ups for the energy transition

The German Energy Agency (dena) and the SET Global Innovation Platform present the most promising climate tech start-ups of the year.

The global innovation platform Start Up Energy Transition (SET) has published its SET100 list for 2026. The list brings together the 100 most promising energy transition and climate tech start-ups worldwide that are driving forward innovative business models in the field of energy transition and climate protection. The selected companies applied for the SET Awards, the international award for energy and climate tech innovations. The SET initiative is organised by the German Energy Agency (dena).

Corinna Enders, Chairwoman of the Management Board of dena, says: "SET and the SET Award are celebrating their tenth anniversary this year. During this time, we have received around 4,500 energy innovations from over 100 countries. The SET100 list for 2026 shows the progress that has been made in the meantime. Many of the selected start-ups are working on technological solutions that have moved beyond the pilot phase."

SET Award 2026 – 15 finalists present their solutions

470 applications from start-ups in 79 countries were received for the SET Award 2026. An international jury from the energy, finance and technology sectors selected the finalists and nominated them for five categories. On 17 March 2026, the 15 finalists on the SET100 list will have the opportunity to present their innovative solutions at the SET Tech Festival in Berlin and receive the SET Award.

The competition is divided into five categories: 

Quality Energy Access & SDG-7: Acecore(US/NIG) | BioMassters (RWA) | Imagine Powertree (IND)

About Start Up Energy Transition (SET)

SET is a global innovation platform founded in 2016 by the German Energy Agency (dena) with the support of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). The initiative identifies leading start-ups in the fields of energy transition and climate tech and connects them with companies, politicians, investors and other start-ups. The SET Award is an annual international competition for innovative start-ups.
