Data exchange in the energy industry
The exchange of data between companies is an important basis for the energy transition.

The exchange of data between companies is an important basis for the energy transition, as the energy sector is faced with the task of efficiently integrating more and more decentralised electricity producers and consumers across all players and sectors. This fact sheet summarises the results of an online survey conducted by dena's Future Energy Lab (FEL) on the most important challenges and potentials of data exchange processes in the energy industry. Industry players were invited to share their experiences and perspectives. One of the key findings is that the industry agrees on one point: data exchange must be improved both within and outside of market communication. The fact sheet provides information on where the industry identifies the biggest obstacles and how a data institute could support an improvement in data exchange processes. The additional graphs in the presentation provide a detailed overview of the survey results. The identified opportunities and obstacles to cross-company data exchange are addressed in Module 2 on the development of the future data institute in the energy use case.
