We get to the bottom of things, whether in our own studies and analyses, in networking with clients, experts and stakeholders, or in our alliances with research institutions. Project development

We develop and manage projects on behalf of our clients, for instance in the area of energy-efficient building and refurbishment or the promotion of energy efficiency in industry und trade. The projects are frequently seen as role models on the market. This is because we use them to demonstrate how the energy transition can succeed in a practical setting. We trust in high quality, promote knowledge networks and use the experience acquired to develop more advanced solutions and strategies.

Market development

Many things are technically feasible. But what is actually purposeful in the interests of the energy transition? Which opportunities does the market provide? How can a market be made accessible for future-oriented technologies? To answer these questions, we cooperate with our clients and partners to develop quality standards that we establish in a practical setting. In doing so, we create transparency, communicate knowledge among the key actors and foster the development of suitable conditions. Networks

We initiate, design and moderate a variety of dialogue formats at the interface between business and politics, including congresses, expert workshops and conferences, and even political networking on an EU, federal or state level. Many of the dialogue formats are initiated as part of larger projects and involve the development of joint strategies. Here we can build on our cross-sectoral network that has matured over many years.

Communication

The energy transition is also a communicative challenge. There are good ideas and approaches in many areas. But how can they be communicated to buyers in private households, companies and municipalities? How can they become established in trade and consulting? We develop and manage communication platforms, campaigns, competitions and PR in order to achieve precisely these objectives. After all, it is demand that will ultimately prove decisive, not supply.

EU Heroes is a European partnership project that identifies obstacles to the development of municipal solar PV projects and develops solutions.

FEBS – the specialist portal for energy-efficient construction and refurbishment

The FEBS specialist portal for energy-efficient construction and refurbishment offers a wide range of services for professionals in energy consulting, architecture, engineering and skilled trades who are active in the field of energy-efficient construction and refurbishment. At the request of the German Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA), dena is offering experts a complete package comprising web platform, publications and dialogue that aims to boost the quality of energy-efficient construction and refurbishment.

geea – “Allianz für Gebäude-Energie-Effizienz” (Alliance for Building Energy Efficiency)

The “Allianz für Gebäude-Energie-Effizienz” (geea) – “Alliance for Building Energy Efficiency” is a cross-sector consortium of leading enterprises and associations in the field of energy efficiency in buildings.

Campaign “zukunft haus” (“future house”).

What was originally conceived of as a portal for informing and motivating owners in 2003 has now developed into an extensive campaign and a mainstay for stakeholders from the industry and politicians, as well as for the press.

Energy Efficiency Networks

In the context of the Campaign, the German Federal Government has agreed with 22 associations and organisations to establish around 500 new energy efficiency networks by end of 2020.

Flagships for waste heat

The project "Flagships of Energy-Efficient Waste Heat Use" intends to make visible the significant energy-efficiency potential through the avoidance and utilisation of waste heat — thereby motivating companies in all industries to tap into this potential.

  • Number of participants: dena will provide comprehensive assistance to up to 10 companies, which will be presented as flagship projects in public relations campaigns.

  • Objective: Process consulting and funding advice for 10 flagship projects for the energy-efficient use of waste heat; presentation in public relations campaigns

LNG study

With the English and German study, dena summarised the current developmental status of LNG in heavy goods traffic, and illustrated the challenges as well as necessary measures for a ramp up of the fuel on the German market. The study is the starting point for the LNG task force as a joint development platform for LNG in road traffic.

Part of the European Energy Network EnR

dena is represented as the German member in the European network of national energy agencies EnR (European Energy Network), and contributes experiences and expertise from Germany.

  • In 2016 dena held the presidency of EnR.
  • Network of 24 international energy agencies (as of 2018)
  • EnR was founded in 1992.


Grid Flex Study

In its “Grid Flex Study", dena is investigating how storage facilities can be used to increase flexibility in the electricity grid. The aim is to identify operating models for storage facilities that are economically viable and which reduce the load on the electricity grid.

  • Study duration: 12 months (until the end of January 2017)
  • The partners in the study are 23 companies from various industries (grid operators, energy providers, plant engineers and providers of storage facility solutions)

Grid Study I and II

With the help of Grid Studies I and II, dena presents the measures which will allow the German electricity grid to meet the challenges of the future: through targeted grid expansion and at the same time optimising the existing energy infrastructure.
