List of criteria updated
The list of criteria in the biogas register has been updated, with the adjustments mainly comprising the deactivation of expired criteria and the updating of legal references. The focus is on the following:
The amendments to Section 9 (5) EEG 2023 by printed matter 20/8657 (Solar Package I) mean that criterion 17a Gas flare/gas consumption facility is still active, but criteria 17, 35 and 35b on digestate storage cover, retention time and gas consumption facility are therefore no longer relevant and no longer applicable.
Furthermore, criterion 21 Methane emissions (EEWärmeG 2009) is no longer applicable, as methane emissions are covered by criterion 38 and electricity consumption by criterion 9.
The same applies to criterion 22 Regenerative process heat/waste heat (EEWärmeG 2009): This criterion is no longer applicable and is covered by criterion 10.
The legal reference to the EBeV was deleted in criterion 27 Mass balancing up to feed-in into the natural gas grid, as the EBeV 2022 expired and the previous specifications on mass balancing were not continued in the EBeV 2030.
As the registry management, we are aware that audits for the 2025 verification period have already started at the time of publication of the updated criteria catalog. However, since no fundamental requirements of the criteria have changed and no criteria have been added or numbering changed, we assume that there will be little impact on the verification process and can hereby provide you with a catalog of criteria in accordance with the current legal basis.
