The verification documentation via the German Biogasregister is based on several central documents: register extract, criteria catalog and product matrix:

Verification documentation in the Biogasregister

By checking standardized criteria and listing these and other verification-relevant data within the register extract, verification documentation is possible for, among other things

  • Electricity production according to EEG
  • Heat market
  • Emissions trading

Biomethane producers can document the properties of the biomethane that are relevant to remuneration and verification within the Biogasregister and thus easily and efficiently market clearly defined products to traders, municipal utilities and end consumers.

Biomethane (intermediate) traders can also market the verified biomethane properties in a standardized and direct manner.

The biomethane properties documented in the form of a Biogasregister extract can then be used by end consumers (e.g. for their thermal power stations or condensing boilers) or municipal utilities (e.g. for blending products) for their verification documentation vis-à-vis electricity grid operators, building authorities or customers.

In order to enable reliable verification documentation, great importance was attached to quality and security when setting up the register.

The verification documentation within the register is ensured by testing companies and their auditors.
