Mass balance design aid for replacement purchases

Due to insolvencies and supply failures in the recent past, the question often arises as to how end customers can procure replacement supplies in a legally secure manner in order to be able to fulfill EEG remuneration or GEG obligations, for example.

However, as the legislator has not created any unambiguous regulations as to what is to be understood by a mass balance supply of biomethane via the natural gas grid, the following abstract explanations, which do not replace a legal examination in individual cases, are to be regarded as a contribution to risk assessment and not as legally binding. A final assessment can only be made by the persons responsible for monitoring compliance with the legal requirements (experts, network operators and ultimately the courts).
