Record Quarter for ERGaR: 1.38 TWh of biomethane credits transferred in the first quarter of 2026
In the first quarter of 2026, 1.38 TWh of biomethane credits were transferred through the ERGaR CoO Scheme—the highest quarterly volume ever recorded under the system. Germany remained the largest import market, followed by Switzerland. The United Kingdom surpassed Denmark as the leading export market for the quarter.
The volumes transferred to Germany are recorded in the dena Biogasregister as part of ERGaR. These figures underscore the growing importance of cross-border biomethane trade in Europe.
