Open Grid Europe, based in Essen, is one of the largest transmission system operators in Germany with a pipeline network of around 12,000 kilometers. Two thirds of the natural gas consumed in Germany flows through our transmission system with around 100 compressor units and around 1100 exit points. 1,450 employees throughout Germany ensure safe, environmentally friendly and customer-oriented gas transportation. In addition, we offer the associated technical and commercial services and provide commercial, technical and IT services for third parties. We actively support the European gas market and, together with the European distribution system operators, create the conditions for cross-border gas transportation and trading. We expressly support the sustainable shaping of the energy transition. We are convinced that gas and its infrastructures have great potential for climate protection and will therefore play a decisive role in the future energy system.
