Fachverband Biogas e. V.

Since its foundation in 1992, the German Biogas Association has developed into the largest lobby group for the biogas industry in Europe with around 4,800 members today. It represents manufacturers, plant constructors and biogas plant operators throughout Germany. The main task of the 30 employees is political lobbying to promote the sustainable use of biogas. In addition to the head office in Freising, the association has a representative office in Berlin and five regional offices. The members also work on a voluntary basis to promote the further expansion of biogas use in Germany. Organized in 23 regional groups, they meet at assemblies.
In addition to the intensive political representation of interests, other objectives of the Biogas Association include
- Promotion of technical developments
- Promotion, evaluation and communication of scientific findings and practical experience
- issuing publications
- Promoting the national and international exchange of experience
- Development of quality standards
The most important industry meeting takes place at the beginning of each year as part of the annual conference of the German Biogas Association. More than 9,000 visitors attended the last conference. It is connected to Europe's largest biogas trade fair.
