E.ON Bioerdgas GmbH

E.ON Bioerdgas GmbH produces and trades in bio natural gas and operates plants as a service provider. It owns or has a majority shareholding in 5 bio natural gas plants, including the plant in Schwandorf, which was one of the first to go into operation in Germany back in 2008.
The trading portfolio amounts to approx. 1 TWh annually and includes biomethane from waste biomass as well as from renewable raw materials. E.ON Bio Natural Gas supplies the national markets for CHP, heat and transportation as well as the international market.
E.ON Bioerdgas develops and promotes innovative plant concepts. The use of new, economically and ecologically advantageous plants such as the cultivation of high-yielding Szarvasi grass on 110 hectares and the bee-friendly silphie on 10 hectares has been particularly successful. The use of vine shavings from hop cultivation at the Wolnzach plant, in the middle of the world's largest hop-growing region Hallertau, was awarded the Biogas Partner Innovation Prize by dena. E.ON Bioerdgas is promoting the value of bio natural gas plants for Germany's sustainable energy supply with further research projects such as in the area of power-to-gas at biogas plants.
