Charles is Chief Economist for EDF Group. He joined EDF in 2022. From 2017 to 2022, he was advisor for macroeconomic and trade affairs to the President of the French Republic, and to the French Prime Minister. Prior to this, he worked for the French Treasury on banking regulation and trade policy. He started his career as an engineer in the car manufacturing industry, and he worked with Morgan Stanley on electricity and commodities markets.

Charles holds a M.Sc. in engineering from Ecole Polytechnique, a MPA from Ecole des Mines de Paris, and a PhD in economics from Harvard University.
