Promoting the export of German know-how

With the Renewable Energy Solutions Programme (RES programme), dena assists German companies who wish to establish technologies related to renewable energy in overseas markets.

As part of this programme, companies receive financial and technical assistance, such as with marketing. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy is funding the programme as part of the "renewables - Made in Germany" initiative.

Jump-starting German technologies in overseas markets

Renewable energy technologies developed in Germany will also be given a jump start in other markets. With the RES programme, dena and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) support German companies with starting off their export activities.

The energy transition has been a successful export. Interest in German renewable energy technology is overwhelming. However, when entering a new market, companies usually require assistance with getting started. As part of the RES programme, they can put their expertise to the test and construct a demonstration installation at a representative location with assistance from dena — which then serves as the gateway for entering the market.

dena RES Programme provides technical and financial assistance

When first beginning their overseas activities, many companies will require both consulting services and financial funding. The dena Renewable Energy Solutions Programme (or dena RES Programme for short) provides help with both. German companies will receive technical and financial support with the planning and construction of a reference installation. dena implements the programme funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) as part of the Energy Export Initiative.

dena also developed the predecessor of the RES programme, the dena Solar Roofs Programme. Furthermore, the agency continues to be responsible for the strategic alignment, continued development, and realisation of the programme. It organises the application phase, selects the projects to be funded from the applications, and advises the companies during the implementation.

Conquering foreign markets — with expert advice from dena

Project costs are eligible for funding up to an amount of 235,000 euros. 45 percent will be borne by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy as part of its Energy Export Initiative, and the participating companies will provide 55 percent of the funding themselves. This funding comprises a marketing and a technical component, as well as a component for consulting services provided by dena. But just as valuable as the financial support is the expert advice provided by dena: A team of experts  will work closely with programme participants at all phases — from the development of the market entry concept to the inauguration of the reference project. It will also provide assistance with building a network and marketing.

dena's RES Programme gives companies the opportunity to install renewable energy technology in prestigious institutions operating in high-value target markets, therefore enabling significant visibility.

Overview

  • 86 projects have been successfully implemented in 59 countries so far
  • Applications are only admitted during the application periods, which are communicated by official notice.
  • Successor to the dena Solar Roofs programme, which was initiated in 2004
  • Now the dena RES Programme is open for all technologies (photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, solar cooling, bioenergy, geothermal energy, wind energy or hydroelectric power and hybrid systems)
