Video: "Refurbishment Heroes" competition 2016 – Award ceremony in Berlin with Andreas Kuhlmann, Horst Evers and other honoured guests

On 23 June 2016, the Deutsche Energie-Agentur (dena), German Energy Agency’s “Refurbishment Heroes” were awarded a prize for the very first time. The prize was awarded for the best stories related to the topic of energy-efficient refurbishment. The awards were presented by dena’s Managing Director Andreas Kuhlmann, the chairman of the board at Qualitätsgedämmt e.V. Lothar Bombös, and the primary managing director of BDH (German Association of the Heating Industry), Andreas Lücke.


In total, twelve homeowners were nominated for the final of the nationwide competition. The placement of the remaining finalists and detailed multimedia reports on the stories that received an award is available at www.sanierungshelden.de.

The “Refurbishment Heroes” competition is part of a nationwide campaign, “The Building Transition”, which was established by the Allianz für Gebäude-Energie-Effizienz (geea), Alliance for Building energy-efficiency, for the purpose of providing homeowners with information on energy-efficient refurbishment. Apart from the German Energy Agency (dena), the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and companies and associations from the relevant industries are also involved.
