Edelman.ergo and dena to partner with BMWi in communicating the German energy transition to the world

For many countries, Germany is a role model in the energy transition and demonstrates how it can be applied to their own country. Hence, there is great interest in how to completely redesign the energy system. But until now, the Federal Government has done little in the way of communicating the energy transition to non-German target groups.

That is all about to change: Following a bid by Edelman.ergo and its partner, the German Energy Agency (dena), the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) has awarded them a long-term contract for communicating the energy transition to the international community. The task of the two agencies will include developing a comprehensive international communications strategy, including digital instruments and various tools, and looking after delegations.

What was particularly convincing about Edelman.ergo and dena's bid was their wide-ranging expertise in communications and energy, plus their international presence. The Edelman network of agencies has offices in every country and region that has links with Germany through special collaboration in energy matters. This unique experience and intercultural competence will enrich the new project. On top of this, dena has major expertise in implementing pilot projects that make an impression on the public, and is a competent contact partner for the applied energy transition through its international network.

'The contract is one of the assignments we were able to win thanks to our new set-up at Edelman.ergo. Our many years of experience in political communications, excellent niche expertise in energy matters and international network won the BMWi over,' says Edelman.ergo's CEO, Susanne Marell.

'We're delighted that our long-standing experience in the field of tapping into overseas markets can now effectively help the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy to communicate the German energy transition internationally.' It's also an important project for the future orientation of the German Energy Agency,' stresses Andreas Kulhman, dena’s Chief Executive.
