dena survey reveals: energy consultants get every 3rd contract through the Database of Energy Efficiency Experts

Survey regarding satisfaction among energy consultants confirms effectiveness of database / dena Service for Experts provides free expert advice for architects, engineers and skilled trades

The Database of Energy Efficiency Experts and the corresponding demand for tested quality have arrived on the market. This is the result of a series of interviews carried out by the TNS Emnid Institute with 42 listed energy efficiency experts on behalf of dena. On average, the experts receive annually 38 percent of their contracts for Federal Office of Economic and Export Control (BAFA) funded advice on energy as well as KfW funded new buildings and refurbishments through their entry in the database. dena administers the Germany-wide database on www.energie-effizienz-experten.de. A further source of contracts is personal recommendations.

"The idea of a database with high qualification requirements pays off," commented Christian Stolte, Head of Division for Energy Efficient Buildings at dena. "Listed energy efficiency experts have verified their expertise. This creates trust - and contracts.”

All registered experts wish to stay on the Database of Energy Efficiency Experts.

The majority of respondents has been a member for a longer period of time, a third since the start, in 2011. And they want to stay: All respondents stated that they were planning to extend their entry in the database. The requirements for entry into the expert list were seen as "reasonable" by all respondents. dena will be following up the request to make it easier to register by making a new online form.

In order to prolong registration after 3 years, it is necessary to provide evidence of further training and experience. 90 percent of respondents consider these requirements reasonable. Generally the respondents favoured further training which enhances technical knowledge. Three quarters of the respondents’ desired topics are provided on the market, there is a partial lack of courses on construction physics, ventilation and renewable energy sources.

dena Service for Experts for architects, engineers and skilled trades

dena founded the Service for Experts to support architects, engineers and skilled trades in their daily work and to simultaneously guarantee quality of work for energy-efficient building and refurbishment. It provides detailed information, tools and tips are provided got customer marketing. The corresponding website, www.dena-expertenservice.de was known to the majority of the respondents and evaluated positively.

Additionally, professionals have the opportunity to ask dena experts practical questions about energy performance certificates, (German Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV) and budgeting - free of charge, by email and telephone. This offer was known to around half of the energy efficiency experts responding to the survey. In general, the expert team was able to help respondents immediately.

In 2011, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) and the KfW decided to set up a nationwide database of qualified energy efficiency experts in order to guarantee the quality of energy consulting and energy-efficient construction and refurbishment measures that qualify for funding. dena started the database and has administered it since then.
