Energy efficiency technologies: Sino-German networking in Chengdu

The “Sino-German Forum for Energy Efficiency” took place in Chengdu, China, on 5 November 2016. Attended by around 300 participants, the event was organised by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Sichuan Bureau of Expo Affairs and by dena. The main focus was on the transfer of technology and expertise between German and Chinese companies in the area of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.

Dr Versen, Head of Department at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy said during his opening speech that China and Germany are today connected by lasting cooperation in the energy sector. So the German government is delighted to contribute its experience to joint projects completed within the Sino-German energy partnership. Dr Jiang, Deputy Head of Department at the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) stated that China would welcome closer cooperation, especially in pilot and best-practice projects.

The participants attended a number of workshops in which they shared their experience and knowledge on current frameworks and on planned ventures and projects in the relevant areas. The topics included efficient houses, air purification, methods to increase energy efficiency in industry and electricity efficiency. German companies were particularly interested in the expected market development in China, while Chinese companies were keen to learn about the technical solutions available in Germany in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy and electromobility.

Reference projects were presented to the participants to provide information on the planning, economic efficiency and financing of individual measures.
