The winners of the award for innovative start-ups in the energy transition have been announced: Start Up Energy Transition (SET), an initiative of the German Energy Agency (dena), presented five young companies with the sixth SET Award at the SET Tech Festi-val in Berlin yesterday. The aviation sector is under pressure. It must become fossil-free by 2050. To do so, it will require synthetic kerosene made from green hydrogen and sustainable CO2, so-called e-kerosene. A study by the German Energy Agency (dena) in collaboration with LUT Uni-versity (LUT) and Ludwig-Bölkow-Systemtechnik GmbH (LBST) comes to the conclusion that to produce e-kerosene, more than 90 percent of the required CO2 must be extracted from the air. The so-called Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology required for this represents a huge challenge which requires political support today.read more

Female Empowerment in Eastern Europe and Central Asia" provides for the first time an overview of the economic, political and social framework conditions of selected partner countries in Central Asia and Eastern Europe, which have an impact on the participation of women in the energy sector. It serves as a basis for intensifying the promotion of women within the framework of the German government's energy partnerships and energy dialogues and for further strengthening the role of women in the energy transition and their participation in the energy policy dialogue.read more
