Energy efficiency

The energy transition calls for innovation and a fresh mindset. Our current level of energy consumption must be halved as quickly as possible. And it is imperative to satisfy this demand using regenerative energy sources that protect our climate and environment. The energy transition will be more successful if we use electricity, heat and fuel efficiently.

Efficient Energy Systems

The “Efficient Energy Systems” project provides information and a platform for dialogue on the energy transition for decision-makers, industry experts and the public alike.

Energy-Efficient Municipalities in Russia

dena has developed an energy and climate protection management system (ECM) with which municipalities can systematically and sustainably reduce their energy consumption. Following successful application in German and Chinese cities dena’s ECM will be implemented in Russian municipalities, taking into account specific local circumstances.

  • Adaptation of dena’s ECM instruments to the specific characteristics of Russian municipalities

Advising BMWi on energy policies

Since 2016, dena has advised the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy on matters of energy policies in its position as framework agreement partner. It provides the consultancy services as the principal contractor, cooperating in this capacity with 14 partners from business and science.

dena’s nationwide Energy Efficiency Campaign is helping companies to exploit existing energy and cost-saving potential.

EnerKI – Using artificial intelligence to optimise the energy system

The aim of the “EnerKI – Using artificial intelligence to optimise the energy system” project is to develop specific knowledge about the use of artificial intelligence in the energy system and make it available to businesses, experts and politicians.

EU HEROES

EU Heroes is a European partnership project that identifies obstacles to the development of municipal solar PV projects and develops solutions.

  • Project objective: The advancement of innovative business models for municipal solar projects.

Energy Export Initiative,

dena has been preparing relevant market information for the German renewable energy sector and providing export advice to companies in the industry since 2002. dena also advertises “German Energy Solutions” abroad and assists German suppliers in the development of high-profile flagship projects.

  • Objective: greater international use of renewable energy and energy efficiency measures, as well as supporting German providers with marketing overseas
  • Provision of attractive presentation options for German providers on overseas markets, as well as specialist information for German companies and/or foreign user groups and multipliers

GreenGasGrids – Green gas for Europe

dena led an international consortium with 11 countries with the goal of supporting the feeding-in of biogas into the natural gas network. The project was funded by the EU Commission.

  • Project term: 2011 – 2014
  • Consortium: 13 international energy agencies and associations from Europe led by dena
  • Objective: Increasing the production and use of biomethane in Europe and removing hurdles for trade.

Energy Efficiency Networks

In the context of the Campaign, the German Federal Government has agreed with 22 associations and organisations to establish around 500 new energy efficiency networks by end of 2020.

Combined Heat and Power Generation

The combined generation of heat and power (CHP) makes a significant contribution to increasing energy efficiency where generation is concerned. Furthermore, CHP can be used to reduce costs both in the industrial sector as well as in households.
