Energy efficiency

The energy transition calls for innovation and a fresh mindset. Our current level of energy consumption must be halved as quickly as possible. And it is imperative to satisfy this demand using regenerative energy sources that protect our climate and environment. The energy transition will be more successful if we use electricity, heat and fuel efficiently.

Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD)

The Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue is organised by invitation of the German Federal Government in collaboration with the German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE), the German Solar Association (BSW-Solar), the Deutsche Energie-Agentur (dena) – the German Energy Agency and eclareon.

  • Project objective: As a high-ranking conference, the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue strengthens the international exchange of experience on the sustainable transformation of energy systems.

biogaspartner – the Biogas Feed-in Platform

Joint biogas feed-in. Under this motto, dena developed the project "biogaspartner – the Biogas Feed-in Platform" in collaboration with partners.

Overview

  • Project start: In 2007
  • Industry goal: Biogas feed-in into natural gas network as a fixed component of the energy mix.
  • Regulatory framework: Created via the implementation of the  integrated energy and climate programme of the Federal Government 
  • Cooperation: Sector-specific know-how for the full development of potential

German Biogas Register

The German Biogas Register is a platform for the standardised and simple documentation of verification records for biogas quantities and qualities in the natural gas network.

  • Partners: 14 leading companies from the biogas and energy industries
  • dena operates the German Biogas Register as the registrar

Demand Side Management in Baden-Württemberg

The purpose of the project is the analysis of cost-effective demand side management potential in cooperation with companies in Baden-Württemberg and the gathering of experience with marketing such potential in practice. Approaches suitable to advance the development of the flexible load market will be established.

dena Study Integrated Energy Transition

The goal of the Study is to make the expertise and requirements of the industry available to successfully design the second phase of the energy transition.

dena Renewable Energy Solutions Programme

dena's RES Programme gives companies the opportunity to install renewable energy technology in prestigious institutions operating in high-value target markets, therefore enabling significant visibility.

Overview

  • 86 projects have been successfully implemented in 59 countries so far
  • Applications are only admitted during the application periods, which are communicated by official notice.
  • Successor to the dena Solar Roofs programme, which was initiated in 2004
  • Now the dena RES Programme is open for all technologies (photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, solar cooling, bioenergy, geothermal energy, wind energy or hydroelectric power and hybrid systems)

 

dena Distribution Grid Study

The dena Distribution Grid Study is a detailed examination of the need for expansion and conversion in the German electricity distribution grids based on two alternative expansion scenarios for renewable energy sources. The results highlight a significant need for expansion of the high, medium and low voltage as well as the intermediate transformer levels by 2030.

Franco-German Energy Platform

The Franco-German Energy Platform is a collaboration between dena and the French energy agency ADEME for cross-border projects.

Overview

  • Project start: 1/9/2015
  • Current partners: TANDEM and DFBEW
  • Objective: Development of concrete collaborative projects for a sustainable supply of energy to serve as a role model for national approaches in a European context.
  • Funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy

Digital Energy World

During the second phase of the energy transition, digitalisation will increasingly demand from all participants systematic action outside of defined structures, as well as needs-based solutions. This can only work if the actors think and act within a cross-sectoral framework. This approach will help develop new business ideas and marketable products.

Overview

  • Project start: January 2016
  • The partner network currently comprises 29 companies and associations from the energy industry, building industry, IT and metrology, as well as technology manufacturers and consultants.
  • The aims of the platform: to bring together and network the key figures within a cross-sectoral framework; to provide expert support in the digitalisation of the energy world; to play a key role in shaping the terms of digitalisation; and to create awareness and acceptance in the general public.

 

e-Highway2050

The goal of the EU project e-Highway2050 is to develop a long-term planning methodology for the expansion and restructuring of the European electricity transmission grids as well as a modular development plan for grid infrastructure in Europe by 2050.
