The energy transition calls for innovation and a fresh mindset. Our current level of energy consumption must be halved as quickly as possible. And it is imperative to satisfy this demand using regenerative energy sources that protect our climate and environment. The energy transition will be more successful if we use electricity, heat and fuel efficiently.

Build Up Skills II – QUALITRAIN

The EU Project Qualitrain focuses on strengthening basic and advanced vocational training levels among the construction workforce in the fields of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.

Federal-state dialogue event: Contracting

Energy contracting is an effective instrument for increasing energy efficiency in buildings. Contracting reduces energy costs, ensures low energy consumption and cuts CO2 emissions, This makes it an important instrument for the success of the energy transition. In order to tap into contracting potential all over Germany, dena operates the Centre of Expertise for Contracting for Buildings with support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).

  • More than 30 successful energy efficiency contracting projects for federal real estate have been launched
  • They guarantee savings of around 15–60 percent of the building's energy costs (39 percent on average) and average CO2 reductions of 37 percent.

Demand Side Management in Baden-Württemberg

The purpose of the project is the analysis of cost-effective demand side management potential in cooperation with companies in Baden-Württemberg and the gathering of experience with marketing such potential in practice. Approaches suitable to advance the development of the flexible load market will be established.

Buildings offer vast potential for energy savings and energy efficiency. The dena Report on Buildings gives a comprehensive overview on the current energy efficiency of buildings in Germany, and compiles all of the important information in a clear form.

The goal of the Study is to make the expertise and requirements of the industry available to successfully design the second phase of the energy transition.

dena Refurbishment Roadmaps for Large Building Portfolios

The energy targets enshrined within state and Federal Government policies present significant challenges to the owners and operators of state-owned properties. The public sector is required to act as a role model, so these institutions find themselves under significant pressure to act in a certain way. This is why the Refurbishment Roadmaps for Large Building Portfolios that dena provides are designed for the long term.

dena Distribution Grid Study

The dena Distribution Grid Study is a detailed examination of the need for expansion and conversion in the German electricity distribution grids based on two alternative expansion scenarios for renewable energy sources. The results highlight a significant need for expansion of the high, medium and low voltage as well as the intermediate transformer levels by 2030.

German-Belarusian Expert Council for Energy-Efficient Construction

The German-Belarusian Expert Council pursues the goal of compiling concrete suggestions for revising the framework conditions for energy-efficient construction and refurbishment in Belarus.

  • Expert group consisting of representatives from Belarusian standardisation and construction authorities as well as dena representatives
  • The goal: Compiling a technical code for building energy efficiency.

Digital Energy World

During the second phase of the energy transition, digitalisation will increasingly demand from all participants systematic action outside of defined structures, as well as needs-based solutions. This can only work if the actors think and act within a cross-sectoral framework. This approach will help develop new business ideas and marketable products.

  • Project start: January 2016
  • The partner network currently comprises 29 companies and associations from the energy industry, building industry, IT and metrology, as well as technology manufacturers and consultants.
  • The aims of the platform: to bring together and network the key figures within a cross-sectoral framework; to provide expert support in the digitalisation of the energy world; to play a key role in shaping the terms of digitalisation; and to create awareness and acceptance in the general public.

 

e-Highway2050

The goal of the EU project e-Highway2050 is to develop a long-term planning methodology for the expansion and restructuring of the European electricity transmission grids as well as a modular development plan for grid infrastructure in Europe by 2050.
