The “Allianz für Gebäude-Energie-Effizienz” (geea) – “Alliance for Building Energy Efficiency” is a dena-initiated and -coordinated cross-sector consortium of leading enterprises and associations active in the field of energy efficiency in buildings.

With members hailing from industry, the building trades, the planning sector, distribution, energy supply, financing and research, geea represents the entire value-added chain in the field of energy-efficient refurbishment.

The Alliance’s goal is to improve the energy efficiency of buildings in Germany via recommendations to policy makers and concrete measures in business and industry. geea amalgamates the different positions of energy efficiency businesses in the building sector, presents these positions to policy makers and actively works to remove market obstacles.

At the initiative of geea, the first nationwide cross-sector campaign for modernising energy use in buildings – "The Building Turnaround" – was launched in March 2014. The campaign is supported by the German Government.

geea supports the following objectives:

  • the German government’s aim to make the country’s building stock virtually climate-neutral by 2050,
  • development of a well-planned, strategy-guided approach to achieving this aim,
  • reliable regulatory and funding policy parameters and policies based on incentives as opposed to mandatory regulations,
  • functional market instruments that ensure transparency and information and support energy-efficient refurbishment – e.g. a top quality energy requirement certificate.
  • the view of buildings as complete systems within which energy efficiency is raised without prioritisation of individual techniques/construction methods.
