Wind energy will play an important role in the energy mix of the future. dena publishes the latest information on offshore wind energy, including the size and location of offshore wind parks, news flashes, events and selected topics, on offshore-wind.de.

Implementation strategy for offshore wind parks

dena has been working in close cooperation with the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) in the project “Support and advice to the federal government in the development and execution of an implementation strategy for offshore wind parks” since 2002.
The German government has drawn up a strategy for the use of offshore wind energy. To support this strategy, dena developed a broad network which brought together the affected Länder, companies, associations and institutions. The agency plays a central role as coordinator of the network and is active in the following fields:

• Coordination between the German government and the coastal Länder (Offshore Wind Standing Committee of the Federal government and the coastal Länder, in short: StAOWind)
• Interconnection of environmental and nature conservation organizations in the offshore wind energy and environmental protection forum FOWEUM
• Support where the acceptance of offshore wind energy is concerned (regional workshops)
• Monitoring of the development of the voltage grid (110 kv, 380kV)
• National and international exchange of information
• Online information content (offshore-wind.de)

The project runs to the end of 2010.
