Efficient Use of Electricity in Industry and Production.

dena's nationwide campaign is helping companies to exploit existing potential for energy and cost savings. Prime target groups are industrial businesses and manufacturing.

Partner for industry and production

Using broad-based information activities, dena is working to raise awareness of the advantages of increased energy efficiency for competitiveness, operating reliability and innovation. dena is drawing up tailor-made information packs and proposals for increasing power efficiency and is working together with opinion leaders from employers' and industry associations and with energy and management consultants. The campaign is currently focussing on the following:

Energy efficiency in cross-sector technologies

As part of the campaign, dena is keeping commercial and industrial decision makers in industry and production informed about possible cost and energy savings from increased energy efficiency in cross-sector technologies. Cross-sector technologies provide good opportunities for energy efficiency measures, with high returns on investment in the high two-digit range being achievable. Interactive tools provided by the initiative help in identifying potential energy efficiencies and offer hints about appropriate measures for tapping this potential.

At present the campaign is focussing on conveying, ventilation and air conditioning technology and on pump, compressed air and heating systems. Decision makers in particular in small and medium enterprises and also planners are provided with extensive information and other resources. Detailed information sheets are now available for all the parts of the various systems which show companies how to start increasing energy efficiency and so make considerable cost savings in the planning and running of cross-sector technologies.

Reference projects for efficient energy use in industry and production

The campaign presents reference projects for efficient energy use in industry and production – from and for companies in all sectors and the most varied fields of application. These reference projects are good examples of the many options available for efficient corporate energy use. A web-based database provides users with project data and project descriptions, together with contact names for the particular reference projects. These exemplary projects are distinguished by innovative solutions for tapping energy and cost savings, which are also suitable for application by other users and provide valuable information.

Energy Efficiency Award

dena awarded the international "Energy Efficiency Award" for the fifth time in 2011 to companies who have invested in innovative and exemplary measures to increase energy efficiency and have put them successfully into practice. The competition was run as part of the "Initiative EnergieEffizienz" ("Energy Efficiency Campaign") with the support of the Premium Partners DZ BANK AG, Imtech Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG and Siemens AG. The winners of the Energy Efficiency Award 2011 received their awards on 21 November 2011 at the dena Energy Efficiency Congress in Berlin:

The prizewinners of the Energy Efficiency Award 2011 provide an impressive demonstration of the advantages of increasing energy efficiency and show how economic viability and climate protection can go hand in hand.
