Energy-Efficient Electricity

The efficient use of electricity lies at the heart of dena’s activities. In concrete terms this means the exploitation of electricity savings potential and the avoidance of unnecessary power consumption. The German Federal Government aims to cut electricity consumption in Germany by 10 percent by 2020 and by 25 percent by 2050 compared to 2008 levels.

System optimisation begins on the demand side: standards and criteria for efficient electricity use.

The number and areas of use of electrically powered appliances and systems are growing in all consumption sectors. Electricity is the basis for ever more services without which our modern everyday life is inconceivable. The central challenge is to meet electricity demand as efficiently, economically and reliably as possible with the least possible impact on climate. Statutory minimum energy efficiency standards and market transparency in terms of energy usage in its many and varied applications create the essential foundations for making full use of savings potential on the demand side.

dena is a key partner for the efficient use of electricity.

In cooperation with partners from business and science, the environmental and political arenas and trade and consumer associations, dena shows that efficiency with electricity is an uncomplicated, everyday matter which is more than worth our while. Initiatives and projects targeting particular groups, needs-based information and a range of corresponding services all encourage private households, trade and industry as well as service providers and public institutions to make intelligent buying and investment decisions and to improve their habits where consumption is concerned.

We promote supply and demand and develop the markets for energy efficiency. The motto for this division is clearly defined: EnergieEffizienz lohnt sich!, or Energy efficiency pays off!
