Car Labelling.

Better information for consumers and end customers.

The revised ordinance on the energy consumption labelling of passenger cars is introducing a coloured CO2 efficiency scale for vehicles which are on display for sale or lease, similar to the labels already normally used for the energy consumption labelling of electrical domestic appliances. Cars are assigned to efficiency classes on the basis of their CO2 emissions while taking account the vehicle's mass.

The aim of the new car label is to ensure that consumers and end customers are better informed about efficiency indicators such as fuel consumption and CO2 emissions in new cars in order to guide purchasing decisions towards more economical cars.

dena is providing the "Introductory Platform for Car Labelling" information service in order to increase public awareness of this consumption labelling scheme and to support the stakeholders involved in implementing the scheme. From mid-October onwards, consumers and stakeholders will be able to find out about the label via an internet information portal, brochures and a telephone hotline.
