Competition: Added value - Heat from renewable energies.
dena's housing refurbishment competition "Added value - Heat from renewable energies" was a great success. Over 700 homeowners competed for the prizes, which were awarded on 19 June 2009.
Modernisation with renewables
Private homeowners who had renewed their heating system for use with renewable energies were invited to send in entries before 15 March 2009. Cash and non-cash prizes with a total value of 40,000 euros were being offered.
The prizes were awarded by dena and the Federal Environment Ministry to the best and most attractive projects and ideas in the categories of solar installation, heat pumps, biomass heating and systems based on a combination of renewables. Priority was given to the use of renewable energies to generate heat, as each new solar installation, efficient biomass heating system or heat pump shows the potential inherent in these resources.
The entries were also considered from a technical, architectural and creative point of view, and the innovative concepts and forward-looking examples are intended to offer ideas and encouragement for future renewal projects.
The winners were presented with their prizes at a public ceremony on 19 June 2009. The first prize in each category was endowed with 3,000 euros, the second prize with 1,500 euros and the third with 500 euros.
