dena promotes energy efficiency in Ukraine

dena is increasing its commitment where energy efficiency in Ukraine is concerned. dena, the National Agency for the Efficient Use of Energy Resources in Ukraine and the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs signed a cooperation agreement to this effect in Kiev on 23 October 2006. They consider saving energy to be one of the most important mechanisms towards solving ecological problems and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The agreement attaches great importance to the problem of covering the growing demand for energy while at the same time reducing damage to the environment, not only in the two countries involved but also in other countries of the world. dena and its Ukrainian partners will therefore systematically increase energy efficiency in Ukraine using both traditional and renewable energy sources based on effective and ecologically clean technologies.

Greater cooperation in the development of energy saving policies in Ukraine, including the legal basis necessary for these, is supported by the agreement. Corresponding pilot projects are to be implemented, and mechanisms developed which increase energy efficiency and the use of renewables in the Ukrainian economy.
