Forum for the grid integration of renewable energies.

The scale-up of renewable energies presents a new challenge for our power grids, which need to be optimised, strengthened and extended. This work must go hand in hand with a harmonisation of the various interests, always with the goal of boosting renewably sourced electricity. Over 40 companies, organisations, associations and initiatives have therefore united to draw up recommendations for the integration of renewables into the grid. more Page

dena to work with the Krasnodar region

In future dena will be championing more energy efficiency and the increased use of renewable energies in the South-Russian region of Krasnodar on the Black Sea. A corresponding cooperation agreement between dena, the department on questions of the fuel and energy complex of the Krasnodar region and the state’s “Regional Center for Energy Savings and New Technologies” was signed in Berlin on 17 January 2008. more External link

This year’s Russo-German government consultations and the annual meeting of the Petersburg Dialogue took place on 1 and 2 October 2008 in St. Petersburg. JI /CDM Investor Forum 14 - 16 October 2007 in Leipzig

dena hosted a very successful JI/CDM investor forum in Leipzig from 14 - 16 October 2007 at the request of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. At the forum, project owners from Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia were brought together with potential investors for JI/CDM projects. more Page

dena to work with the Sverdlovsk region.

dena has increased its commitment to increasing energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions in the Sverdlovsk region in the Ural Mountains, and signed a corresponding agreement with the Ministry of Energy and Housing of the Sverdlovsk region in Yekaterinburg on 11 June 2008 in the presence of Federal Environment Minister Sigmar Gabriel. dena also took the opportunity of the Minister’s visit to organize a one-day forum on energy efficiency in the capital of Sverdlovsk, which lies on the border between Europe and Asia. dena promotes energy efficiency and renewable energies in Brazil

dena is increasing its involvement in Brazil, signing a corresponding cooperation agreement with the Economic and Social Development Agency (CaixaRS) in Porto Alegre on 1 September 2007. The agencies have agreed to collaborate in respect of the use of renewable energies, energy efficiency and the implementation of CDM projects. more Page

Conference on Renewable Energies for Embassies in Germany

The Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH (dena)  - the German Energy Agency - the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) and the KfW Entwicklungsbank carried out the "Conference on Renewable Energies for Embassies in Gemany" on June 26th 2007 in Berlin at the premises of the KfW bank.

Relaunch of the website www.offshore-wind.de

The bilingual internet portal dealing with the use of offshore wind energy has been completely renewed. It is online now showing a new design with many new funtions. The information is now arranged more clearly and for the overview of the latest state of affairs concerning the various offshore projects detailed maps and data sheets are being supplied.

Government market incentive programme for the promotion of renewable energies

With its publication in the Federal Gazette, the new directive for the promotion of renewable energies has come into force. Applications rejected in 2006 due to the lack of budget resources may also be re-submitted. The subsidies granted in such cases will be based on the levels given in the directive of 12 June 2006. The amendments include the promotion of solar installations for the provision of process heat and for solar cooling. 

Low Energy Standards for Schools

There is enormous potential to save money in non-residential buildings including, as is to be shown in this project, in schools. Energy-efficient refurbishment to a level which is significantly better than that of new buildings can release this potential. Taking the experiences made in its model project “Low Energy Standards for Existing Buildings” (residential buildings) as a basis, dena is starting a new model project entitled “Low Energy Standards for Schools” in March 2007. more Page

The English-language TV documentary “Discovery: New Energy from Germany – 24 hours in the land of renewable energies” by the Deutsche Energie-Agentur (dena) was awarded the international “Prize of the Association of Industrial Ecology in Slovakia – EKOTOPFILM 2006” on 27 October 2006.

EnergieEffizienz Initiative cooperates with Karstadt

dena’s Initiative EnergieEffizienz is significantly enhancing its cooperation with Karstadt Warenhaus GmbH. dena promotes energy efficiency in Ukraine

dena is increasing its commitment where energy efficiency in Ukraine is concerned. dena, the National Agency for the Efficient Use of Energy Resources in Ukraine and the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs signed a cooperation agreement to this effect in Kiev on 23 October 2006. They consider saving energy to be one of the most important mechanisms towards solving ecological problems and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. more Page

dena’s shareholder base extended

dena wins financial service providers for energy efficiency. The Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH (dena) - the German Energy Agency - has three new shareholders from the private sector. Allianz SE, Deutsche Bank and DZ Bank now each hold eight percent in the agency. The shareholders to date, the Federal Republic of Germany and the KfW Bankengruppe (KfW banking group), have kept a shareholding of 50 and 26 percent respectively. Due to the importance of biomass and consumer questions on the sustainable supply of energy, the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV) will also be represented on the Supervisory Board of dena in future.
